Small start-up rant

Today was a great and frustrating day. I got some interviews lined up, and also got some rejections, which is fine, but long awaited. It is very irksome to wait an extra 7 days just to get rejected from a company that loves you and your personality, but not your lack of experience.

JUST GIVE ME A CHANCE!

I find it incredible that time after time, start-up companies are demanding more expertise than the existing people that work there. Example: A few months ago, I interviewed for a position that I felt perfect for and brought in ideas that the interviewers said could work in the company. Did they hire me- No! Instead, they hired someone that had been in the workforce for more time than the manager had been out of college!

I thought I would find my niche in small start-up companies, who are idealized as creative bright minds that think out of the box. In my experience, it is these small companies that are the most close-minded in hiring their fellow entrepreneurs. Yes, these companies have more riding on each person hired, and it is imperative to get the best fit, but they should not advertise as wanting 0 years experience if they actually want 5.

Blargh- I want ice cream.
